Salzkammergut - Bad Ischl
The Salzkammergut: Valleys between mighty alpine summits and glaciers, crystal clear lakes and idyllic riverbanks. What counts here are not speed but rather quality of life, nature and enjoyment. At its centre is Bad Ischl. A town with 14.000 inhabitants which, as the former summer residence of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. can look back at a long history which it still proudly displays in many areas. It is also a town, however, that because of its historically developed cosmopolitanism, has always moved with the times. The exciting contrast between old and new, between traditional and modern makes the one-time Emperor’s town an extraordinary experience. It is more than just precious (saline) waters that springs forth in Bad Ischl: The town has always been a source of inspiration for many creative spirits. Music, in particular, has always had a loving home here. The Operette Festival, which takes place every year in July and August is a tribute to the town’s most famous composer, Franz Lehár. This special combination is what today makes Bad Ischl a centre of music and dialogue which more and more people in business and science are coming to appreciate.
